Our school – our future

Summer is almost there and school time almost ends. That‘s why I decided to make a newspaper report about our 7th grade year. This year in grade 7 has been an incredible journey filled with learning, fun and unforgettable memories. Many students agree that the relationship between between students and teachers is very positive.

Break time is also something we really enjoy. One student said that playing
football during breaks helps him forget his worries. Sports in general are a big
part of our school life and they bring us together. Our sports lessons are very
exciting. Sometimes we even get to choose what we want to do. Right now, we‘re doing tennis, badminton, speed-minton and football tennis, which we all enjoy a lot.

In our subjects, we learn many important and interesting things. For example in World Studies (Weltkunde) we explore the past and the present – we’ve learned about the Middle Ages and how the World works today. In politics and economics
(Wirtschaft Politik-WiPo) we are currently learning about the economy and political systems. These subjects help us to understand the world we live in.

In science (NaWi), we‘ve learned about speed, acceleration, energy, how your eyes work and so much more. Science is exciting and helps us see the world in a
different way.

One of our favorite things in 7th grade is the elective courses (WPK) which start at the beginning of the 7th grade school year. We can choose between Danish, Spanish, Technical Education or creative design (Gestalten). It‘s great to have a choice and try different things that we enjoy.

After every big holiday, we have something special called project week (Vorhabenwoche). During this time of the week, we spend time as a class, go on trips, and learn about topics like safety or addiction. We also did media awareness. It‘s a great way to learn a fun and different environment. Sometimes classes even go on class trips during this time.

In the school yard, you‘ll often see students playing football together. Many players have amazing skills and so much talent. It‘s a lot of fun and it helps us connect with each other. Many students love a game named round (Runde) and Volleyball. You can always see groups of kids having fun and and competing against each other. It‘s a great way to move around and enjoy the fresh air. Our school yard has a nice playground area down below, where students can relax, play and have fun. It‘s a great spot that makes our school feel more fun and welcoming.

We have many different modules that make learning more fun and personal. There are sports modules like table tennis or badminton. There is also football for boys and football for girls, and even for those who enjoy thinking and stragety. Creative students can choose between arts, painting or drawing to express their feelings. We also have a reading club, DaZ for German learners and English for pros for students who want to improve their English skills. Some modules help us study or catch up on homework, while others let us explore new hobbies. The best part is: everyone can choose what fits their interests. These modules take place in the afternoon and are something we all look forward to. They give us the chance to learn in a fun and relaxed way. With so many options available, there’s always something new to try!

In 8th grade, every student at our school gets the chance to do a two-week internship. It’s a great opportunity to leave the classroom and step into the real working world. During this time, we experience what it’s like to have a job, follow a schedule, and take on responsibilities. Some students work in a kindergarden, others in workshops, stores, or offices. It helps us figure out what we might want to do in the future — or what we definitely don’t want. It’s not just about learning how to work, it’s also about learning more about ourselves.

Our school is lucky to have a school social worker who truly cares about the students. Whether it’s about problems at home, bullying, stress, or just needing someone to talk to, our social worker is there. She doesn’t judge, she listens. Many students feel safer and more understood because of her. She also supports us during our internships and helps with personal or emotional struggles.

All in all, it has been a great year full of learning, teamwork and awesome experiences. We‘re thankful for our teachers, our classmates and the many opportunities our school offers.
